 Japanese: He Who Challenges the Sun English: To Challenge the Sun Airdates Japan: October 04, 2003 USA: November 06, 2004 UK: Unknown Australia: Unknown Synopsis: Little Edward (Ed) + Alphonse (Al) are together and are doing Alchemy however it starts to go wrong. We hear a scream and then Ed calling for Al who's clothes are just there without his body. Ed has lost an arm + leg and is bleeding badly. It appears he's lost his brother. It turns out they were trying to revive their mother but only succeeded in bring a -thing- back... We then seen an older Ed in the desert whinging and fall in the sand. He then calls for Al. We then see a metal hand come up from the sand and grab Ed. We find Al is in a full suit of armour. Ed chases Al around for a shortwhile. They finally arrive at a town and make it to a bar where they hear, from the radio at the bar, a religious broadcast on the Sun God (Leto) from Sir (Father) Cornello who they are told is a prophet + miracle worker. Ed + Al go to leave but Al breaks the radio by accient. He then fixes it via alchemy much to the amazement of the people gathered who more or less say Cornello can do the same. They think Al is the FMA but a hooded woman says Ed Elric is the Full Metal Alchemist. A young woman named Rose arrives with an offering to take to Cornello and offers to take them as there are rooms for strangers. They go with her as the woman leaves. We see Cornello in his 'study room' saying his religious stuff. We find that Rose has a wish to have her love/family brought back from the dead. Ed/Al are very dubious and want to know more. They go to a miracle gathering which we see Cornello's ring causing the transmutation of items. Everyone thinks they are miracles except Ed + Al who knows it's Alchemy but don't understand why he can do it without a transmutation circle. Cornello finds out who his 'guests' are and orders Cray to have them removed. We then see Ed giving Rose his speech on what Cornello is doing and that Alchemists are closer to Gods than their god. Cray then shoots Al causing his metal head to go near Ed. Cray then tries to shoot Al but is stopped by Al's head which is kicked/thrown by Al. Rose freaks out and runs off. Ed + Al follow and find that Rose has lead them into a trap with Cornello. We then find out Cornello is using the Philiospher's Stone to do his Alchemy thus allowing him to not have to use a circle. Al is taken by sand leaving Ed to fight a Chimera + oversized parrot summoned by Cornello. Ed summons a staff and starts to fight. The parrot takes hold of Eds leg which should have snapped but it gets kicked away by him. The Chimera then bites Ed's arm much to Cornello's delight but we find Ed still standing with the Chimera hanging off his arm. The strange woman is watching events with Gluttony (1 of the 7 sins *yes the woman is a sin but not named just yet :p*) We then see Ed take down the Chimera and reveal his arm + leg are Metal and as Cornello states he is the Full Metal Alchemist and that was his price for dabbling in 'Gods Work' in trying to bring back his mother.
