 Japanese: Farewell Ceremony English: Words of Farewell Airdates Japan: March 27, 2004 USA: April 30, 2005 UK: Unknown Australia: Unknown Synopsis: Hughes goes to Roy's Office, Roy is looking exhausted, we see Roy has been dabbling in forbidden Alchmey (Taboo). Roy is upset about the Ishbal Massacre. Hughes smacks him saying that if Roy wants to be killed there are easier way (we see a gun on the side). Roy tells Hughes that he has a plan. Hughes wakes up when Shezka calls him, (It was a back event), King Bradley has come to see him. Hughes has been working on an investigation into Lab 5 but is told by Bradley to stop as he has done a report. Hughes says he isn't satisfied and shows his findings to Bradley, who isn't best pleased but seems to relent and let Hughes carry out the invesigation. Bradley knows of the Homunculi. Hughes wishes to speak to Marcoh, Bradley's Secretary who is now named as Juliet says she will have him brought out of hiding. She then repeats to herself something that Bradley said a few moments earlier 'Extract the bad part out' we then see her last name tag as Douglas. Hughes is with Ed + Al and shows him the list of names and says how they all died/disappeared. Ed says he isn't bothered in the stone anymore because of the danger. They plan to go and see their old teacher. Outside the team know different knowing they are trying to protect them from being the next ones on the list. Winry, Ed and Al leave on the train (with the Hughes' and many friends seeing them off) it is then they tell Winry they are looking for the Ishbalan Encampment to find Scar as they want answers. Scar is walking in the desert with various Ishbalans when they start to explode. Scar calls out Master and Brother, Kimblee has followed them he then goes to make another bomb when the scene cuts to Scar being treated and is talking to his teacher. (That was also a back event - as Scar has no well Scar on his face...) Some guys on bikes come to the camp and start to wreck it. Scar's teacher tells him that revenge solves nothing (meaning to Scar's actions in killing State Alchemists). Scar goes outside and kills one of the bikers causing the rest to leave. The teacher then sees the right arm of Scar and recognises it as Scar's older brother arm. Roy is on the phone talking/shouting at Hughes for not being told about Ed and Al being hospitalised. Roy could be transfured back to Central for a new promotion soon. When the call ends Roy asks Hawkeye to book tickets back to Central as he knows something is going on. Hughes is at home with Gracia (tucking Elicia into bed) Hughes is going to check on something. He reads up on various stuff that Ed and Al have done. We find out Douglas was the name of the soilder who killed the child that started the Ishbal Massacre. Juliet then phones saying Marcoh has arrived at the hotel. When the call ends Hughes makse the connection of Douglas' name. Before leaving he tells Scieszka to put the books back and then fires her. Hughes goes to the hotel and questions Juliet about Ishbal and reveals he know the name of the soilder that started the massacre was female and had her name. That soilder was supposed to have died 2 years before the massacre but the files were never deleted and that after the massacre she got a big promotion to the secretary's post. Lust then comes from one of the rooms and extends her nails. Hughes uses one of his daggers to kill her, Ross runs along firing and the 2 run. Lust revives again and reveals Juliet is indeed a Homunculi and is Sloth. Hughes and Ross make it to a phone box. Hughes drops a pic of him and his family and Ross sees it. Hughes phones Roy but Havoc informs him that Roy is on is way to Central. When finishes Hughes puts a dagger to Ross' neck. He knows it isn't her as Ross' mole is missing. He kills her by slicing her throat and goes to go home. We find it is Envy who revives into the form of Gracia. Hughes is then shot as as he falls we are taken back to Roy's plan. Roy says he will become Fuhrer and make changes to the way things are run so another Ishbal never happens. Hughes says he will help Roy as much as he can. We then see Roy on a train heading back to Central. At Hughes funeral all the top Military are there, Elicia is distraught wanting her daddy to wake up as in her innocence she cannot understand why he is being buried. It is put down as Hughes died in the line of duty and got promoted to Brigadeer General for it. Roy says he can't believe Hughes said he'd help him and then outranked him in death. Roy had a theory on Human Transmutation. Hawkeye tells him that Hughes never told him about Lab 5 and the Elrics because he'd knew how Roy would react not to mention he wanted Roy to concentrate on his goal. Roy then cries for Hughes. Ed is eating pie on the train that Gracia made. They talk of Hughes how he always protects them and Winry threatens Ed saying he better thank Hughes when they get back to Central for all he's done for them. Ed looks out of the window and sees Hughes waving to the train. Al and Winry as Ed what is wrong but he says it was nothing as the episode ends.
