 Japanese: The Silver Watch of the Dog of the Military English: Be Thou for the People Airdates Japan: November 29, 2003 USA: January 08, 2005 UK: Unknown Australia: Unknown Synopsis: Winry has the lads on a killer shopping trip and is getting Ed to buy her tons. Ed is then suddenly called to Roy for a mission he has to inspect a Coal Mine at Youswell including resources there. Ed + Al see Winry off then go onto the train to Youswell the last town in the Eastern District. When they get to Youswell Ed accidently gets whapped by a kid called Khayal with wood and gets halled into an Inn. Ed is told the rates are 200k per night and the place is a dump, Ed uses Alc to fix various things and when he reveals he is a State Alchemist he gets kicked out but Ed claims he doesn't know Al so he can stay safely in the Inn. We find the reason they hate the Army is because General Yoki is the 'owner' of the area and is taxing people like no tomorrow! Later Al sneaks food to Ed. Yoki then arrives at the Inn demanding taxes from the people there. A guy goes to smack him but her female servant/guard (Lyra) uses Alchemy to stop him (she has a necklace). Yoki then says he may have no choice to suspend the Inn Licence. Khayal throws a cloth at Yoki's face so he gets one of his thugs to go hurt the boy with a sword. Ed goes and stops the sword with his metal arm before it strikes Khayal. Yoki wonders who Ed is and he reveals to Yoki he is a State Alchemist which makes Yoki change his tune and he takes Ed back to him mansion. General Haruko is at Roys Office saying Roy is to be promoted again and that Hawkeye is to be at his post. Roys 1st task is to oversea the Eastern Division staff (including Youswell) where Haruko knows the staff there are basically scum in most cases. At Yoki's mansion Lyra is serving food where she reveals she wishes to be a State Alchemist. Yoki hands Ed a bribe and says the towns people will behave themselves shortly. Lyra goes to the town and uses her Alchemy she destorys the Inn trashing everything with Khayal + Al still being inside. Ed arrives knowing that this is Yoki's doing. Khayal asks Ed to make gold to help them but it is forbidden. Ed moves away with Al from the people and using the bribe money + coal he produces gold. Ed goes to see Yoki and offers to buy the mine with the gold he made and if Yoki writes a letter + deeds saying he has signed it to Ed for free the gold is his. Yoki does this. Ed goes into town and says he now owns it and he will give it the town for the cost of 1 night in the Inn which he is reminded that the inn is destroyed, Ed then shows he repaired it. Yoki then arrives saying the gold turned back to stone. Ed questions what gold as the letter + deeds state that he didn't pay anything XD Lyra then attacks Ed with Alc and he stops her with his arm and then cuts her necklace that she uses. Yoki then orders his men to attack but they are surrounded. Yoki then gets the snot kicked out of him. Ed sends his report to Roy. He Hawkeye talk about Ed and that his work over in Youswell has made the Military rethink the Eastern Staff (which makes Roys job much easier when goes goes there) of course they don't know the stuff about the gold.
