 Japanese: The Thief Psiren English: The Phantom Thief Airdates Japan: December 06, 2003 USA: January 15, 2005 UK: Unknown Australia: Unknown Synopsis: Ed + Al are playing a card game on the train (this episode continues off from where Epi 2 finished). Ed has a bad hand but we find he wins with a decent one. They have to go to a meeting with Roy and Ed is not amused. They make a stop at Aquroya and Al discovers Ed was cheating on the train. We then see the police chasing a cat burglar called Psiren and she can use Alchemy. When Ed uses his Alchemy they boys are arrested by the chief. After explaining that Ed is a State Alchemist he tells them about Psiren the thief. Ed gets food poisoning and has to have an injection and he totally freaks as he hates needles. Clara a female Nurse gives him the injection rather quickly so he doesn't really notice it. Al likes her as she reminds him of Trisha their mom. We see her with an old lady who drops an item that Al then fixes with Alchemy. Clara then knows they are alchemists. A short while later the chief turns up again and has checked out Ed's story (and been given a talk down by Roy) he now needs Ed's help. Psiren has put her next theft out in the papers again and it's Ed's job to guard the object. Siren gets in and steals it so Ed goes in pursuit. After a short fight she reveals a mark on her chest (above her bust) and she uses it on cards to pin Ed. When light comes Ed walks past a room that Clara is in and he sees the same mark on her that he saw on Psiren last night. Al enters and Ed says that Clara is Psiren. Clara says the hospital is to be demolished if she can't raise enough funds. The chief then enters needing to talk to Ed. Later when Clara isn't around he takes them to Psiren's next target and tells them a trap is set. Psiren goes to steal it and the trap catches her however Ed frees her. Psiren thanks Ed and he asks her about the Philosopher Stone. She says she doesn't know anything about one but if he ever needs one stealing she'll do it for him as repayment Later we see the hospital is demolished (Ed is not amused) and that Clara is a Nun and the convent is to be demolished if she can't raise funds. Psiren strikes again and the convent is gone thus making Ed annoyed even more. Clara is then a teacher to save the school. We see a guy with a paper saying Psiren has announced her next target and that she has saved their town for now cause it is sinking and her thefts are helping to get tourists there so that everyone can see Aquroya before it's gone forever. Ed understands this but is annoyed that Psiren made a fool out of him which he won't forgive. Ed goes to stop Psiren's next heist and she manipulates the water to attack Ed. He falls into the water and uses alchemy to create a giant fist catching Psiren. The Chief arrests Clara/Psiren but before she is taken away she tells Ed that in the Town of Zennatime there is a researcher who is working on composites of a Philosopher Stone. Ed & Al leave the town.
