They have been reading the books on Alchemy so much they make a small bird figure. Trisha praises them so the keep up their work on Alchemy but one day they come home to find her collapsed on the floor, Then her funeral. The boys sitting at her grave when Ed tells Al about how he read in one of the books about Homunculus and how they maybe able to bring mom back. Knowing it's forbidden they will keep it as their secret. In classes they discuss the human body make up while supposed to do be doing math. On their way home they wonder what they are missing in their human transmutation and why it is outlawed. They think it maybe cause it's so dangerous and no-one can live who tried it. They talk over the country in the east that was destroyed in 1 night. The Philosopher Story in the Eastern Desert, how a guy was supposed to have tried a perfect Human Transmutation but wiped out all around him. Ed tells Al it was a fairytale. Al wonders if dad was around would've he taught them Alchemy. Ed is annoyed and says it's Dads fault that mum got sick and died. Al says to Ed that self teaching will only get them so far. Outside a rainstorm is getting heavier. The riverbank is about to overflow. Ed and Al get there to see a woman come use alchemy without a circle to make the wall bigger. She then throws up Blood. In a house she introduces herself as Izumi Curtis and her husband Sig, they are from Dublith on thier way back. Ed and Al ask the 'old lady' to become her apprentices. She throws the bed at them which they ask the 'young lady' to take them on. Izumi tells them no but they are stubborn. Pinkao tells her that they boys have no parents. She agrees to take them for 1 month trail training. On the train when the boys are sleeping she and Sig talk. She says if hers was alive he would've been their age and how she could see they are determined. They arrive at Dublith to Kauroy Lake. A guy meets Izumi to take the boys in a boat to the island in the middle of the lake - Yock Island. She gives them a knife and tells them the island is deserted an no wild beasts should be on the island. They have to survive 1 month alone on the island and learn the meaning of "One is All and All is one" The boys are hungry and tired so decide to sleep and find food in the morning. Ed wakes up hearing a rustling sound. They are attacked by some guy/animal and how it's his Island and all outsiders must die. |
